Players Bring Home Awards at Regional Festival!

The Wellesley Players are pleased to announce that our production of Steel Magnolias received two awards at the Regional Festival this weekend.  Tracy Nygard, took home the award in the Best Actress category and the set and production design elements were award best at the festival.  The Bear performed by Arlekin Players of Newton, MA won the award for best overall production earning them a trip to Rochester, New York the third week of June to compete at a national level.

Although we are not moving on, the Players enjoyed a great weekend.  Being a part of a wonderful collaborative effort which began in the fall of 2009 is a testament to a fine cast of performers and a most adept team crew led by stage manager, Alissa Palange.

Our collective hats go out to:  Tracy Nygard, Sara Jones, Valerie vonRosenvinge, Maureen Aducci, Susan Rice and Marian Morrison for bringing this production to life!   This is the second time The Players have competed at the Regional level.  Four years ago, their production of Graceland won an invitation to compete at the National level!

Tickets are now on sale for AACT Fest 2011 in Rochester, New York.  Even though The Players are not performing, this week long event feature shows from the 12 regions of the country as well as workshops, social activity and the opportunity to meet and mingle with community theatre folks from all over the United States.  For information about tickets and registration visit:  AACTFest11 in Rochester, NY, June 20-26
